HawaiiCon is unique. It is where Hawaiian culture intersects with nerdom, whether it’s from panels on translating “The Hobbit” into the Hawaiian language or Hawaiian Myths in Comics, dining next to a comic creator at the poolside luau, snorkeling with a celebrity, or stargazing with an astronomer. Located in a full-service beachside resort on the big island of Hawaii, the con itself is housed in a convention space built around open-air courtyards and breezeways.
Due to the resort atmosphere and the limited amount of attendees, this is an intimate convention with many opportunities to interact and socialize with the creators and celebrities. The panels and presentations are a blend of comic creators, sci-fi fandom celebrities, writers, scientists, and Hawaiian culture experts.
