Fans of the TV show “Supernatural,” affectionately known as #SPNFamily, will finish this sentence without hesitation: “The Family Business… Saving People – Hunting Things.” It’s the motto for the Winchester family, and for “Supernatural” actor Jensen Ackles it also means beer.  He and his family launched the Family Business Beer Company in 2018. And although the name is a subtle nod to the show’s iconic catch phrase, you won’t find any show memorabilia in the taproom – it’s all about the beer. And tacos.

 

For a great road trip destination or nerdy side trip, head to the quirky-named town of Dripping Springs, Texas, where you’ll find the Family Business Beer Co. taproom nestled in a rural setting. The off-the-beaten path takes you through the scenic hill country outside of Austin, Texas. The serene location features the taproom, merchandise area, outdoor patio, kid-friendly play area and a pet-friendly area, all surrounded by acres of oak grove. Out back of the patio is the food truck area, currently occupied by Austin’s popular Taco Baby.

 

On tap are 16 handcrafted beers; the most popular among Supernatural fans is the Cosmic Cowboy, getting a mention in a season 14 episode. Can’t decide on what to order? Explore the many varieties by ordering a 4-beer flight. When you find one you love, bring it with you by ordering a crowler (can fills) or a growler to-go.

 

On a hot Texas day, it doesn’t get much better than relaxing on the patio with a cold handcrafted beer, eating an awesome taco, and listening to some live music at The Family Business.
